A equipe de Boxe Sesi/Prefeitura de Sorocaba, da Liga Sorocabana de Boxe (Lisoboxe), em parceria com a Secretaria de Esporte e Qualidade de Vida (Sequav) da Prefeitura de Sorocaba, participou, neste último fim de semana (4 e 5/11), da 1° edição do Boxing Club World Cup, torneio realizado nas dependências do Comando-Geral da Marinha, no Centro de Educação Física “Almirante Adalberto Nunes”, no Rio de Janeiro (RJ).
Organizado pela Associação Desportiva Almirante Adalberto Nunes (ADAAN), em parceria com a Liga Brasileira de Clubes de Boxe (LBCB) e apoio da Marinha do Brasil e do Centro de Educação Física Almirante Adalberto Nunes (CEFAN), a edição contou com 10 países e 70 atletas, distribuídos em 10 categorias de peso, sendo todos eles da Classe Elite (acima de 18 anos).
Um dos representantes da cidade foi o boxeador Luiz Carvalho, na categoria meio-pesado (81kg), que venceu o atleta Lucas Mateus da Silva, representante da ADAAN/Marinha do Brasil. Em seu segundo combate, na final, Luiz Carvalho enfrentou Cleverson de Melo, também da Marinha do Brasil, que venceu por decisão unânime dos juízes. Com isso, o boxeador de Sorocaba ficou com a medalha de prata.
O outro sorocabano a subir no ringue foi David Guiedes, na categoria 91kg, enfrentando o atleta da Marinha e Seleção Brasileira, Ramon Batagello, que levou a melhor no confronto. Com o resultado, Guiedes ficou com a medalha de bronze.
“Foi uma competição difícil e ter dois atletas medalhistas na Copa do Mundo de Clubes é muito bom! Mas não vamos descansar, até mostrar um desempenho cada vez melhor. Agora, é trabalhar e fazer o planejamento desse fim de ano para que possamos ter um 2024 tão bom quanto foi 2023”, pontua o treinador da equipe, Vladimir de Godoi.
O secretário de Esporte e Qualidade de Vida, Vitor Mosca, parabenizou a equipe. “Mais um degrau subido e mais uma conquista e experiência adquiridas. Com muito foco e trabalho, nossos atletas vão longe. Parabéns à equipe”, conclui.
