A Prefeitura do Rio, por meio da Subprefeitura da Zona Sul e do Instituto de Vigilância Sanitária (IVISA-Rio), organizou, nesta segunda-feira (22/1), campanha de vacinação antirrábica e microchipagem de cães e gatos na Praça Nelson Mandela, em Botafogo, e no Largo do Machado.
Pela manhã, a iniciativa foi realizada na Praça Nelson Mandela, onde 85 microchips foram aplicados. Já na parte da tarde, no Largo do Machado, as 100 unidades de chips disponíveis rapidamente se esgotaram. Foram 185 vacinas administradas nas duas localidades. O subprefeito da Zona Sul, Flávio Valle, esteve presente e comentou sobre os planos futuros:
– Estamos realizando essas ações com cada vez mais frequência e, pela adesão da população, conseguimos perceber como essa é uma demanda crescente por toda a Zona Sul. Nossa intenção é levar a campanha para diferentes bairros por toda a região e conseguir alcançar o máximo possível de tutores.
A aposentada Denise Luzes, de 74 anos, esteve no Largo do Machado com seu vira-lata Frederico para receber o microchip e a vacina antirrábica.
– Eu acho maravilhoso esse tipo de ação, precisamos ter mais iniciativas desse tipo, principalmente para pessoas que não podem pagar.
Somente em janeiro, quatro praças já foram contempladas pelas campanhas de microchipagem e vacinação realizadas pela Subprefeitura da Zona Sul e pela Secretaria de Saúde. Entre elas estão Nossa Senhora da Paz, em Ipanema, e Praça Atahualpa, no Leblon.
