Com atuação e metas específicas para garantir a produção sustentável em Mato Grosso do Sul, o Governo do Estado atua para firmar parcerias e mostrar o compromisso com o meio ambiente, e o consequente crescimento econômico, para os mercados nacional e internacional.
O governador, Eduardo Riedel, se reuniu com a embaixadora da União Europeia no Brasil, Marian Schuegraf – nesta quinta-feira (21), em Brasília (DF) –, para mostrar os avanços do Estado na proteção ambiental e o empenho para expansão comercial e econômica em diversas áreas.
“Discutimos a nova lei de importação da União Europeia, que bloqueia uma série de produtos que sejam oriundos de áreas que tenham sido desmatadas pós 2020. O Mato Grosso do Sul tem uma economia dinâmica que cresceu 6,6% em 2023 e tem cadeias produtivas importantes como derivados de floresta plantada, carne, grãos, soja e milho. Viemos abrir este diálogo, esta conversa, protegendo os mercados do Estado, no sentido de mantê-los ativos e abertos ao mercado europeu que é extremamente importante”, afirmou Riedel.
A União Europeia tem uma lei, em vigor desde junho do ano passado, que proíbe a importação de produtos ligados ao desmatamento e exige comprovação de que foram produzidos sem prejudicar o meio ambiente – incluindo gado e soja, entre outros.
Entre as ações em andamento no Estado, que contribuem para a produção sustentável e a proteção ambiental, o governador apresentou, à embaixadora Marian Schuegraf, a Lei do Pantanal e as ações de prevenção aos incêndios florestais no bioma. O vice-governador José Carlos Barbosa (Barbosinha) e o secretário Jaime Verruck, da Semadesc (Secretaria de Meio Ambiente, Desenvolvimento, Ciência, Tecnologia e Inovação), participaram do encontro.
“Expusemos todas as nossas ações em prol da questão ambiental, a Lei do Pantanal, discutimos também o nosso monitoramento, todas as ações de prevenção a incêndios, queimadas, a garantia da manutenção da nossa biodiversidade. E colocando isso frente a garantia de que os produtos sul-mato-grossenses têm alto grau de responsabilidade. Vamos mostrar isso cada vez mais ao mundo, por entender que os nossos produtos carregam em si aquilo que a gente quer ver, responsabilidade ambiental, social”, afirmou Riedel.
A Lei do Pantanal, que entrou em vigor no dia 19 de fevereiro deste ano, alterou significativamente as normas de conservação, proteção, restauração e exploração ecologicamente sustentável em toda Área de Uso Restrito do Pantanal.
Na lei também é criado o Fundo Estadual de Desenvolvimento Sustentável do Bioma Pantanal, que será dominado como Fundo Clima Pantanal, para promover o desenvolvimento sustentável do bioma e possibilitar a gestão das operações financeiras destinadas ao financiamento de programas de pagamentos por serviços ambientais na área.
“A União Europeia é uma grande compradora e pode ficar tranquila, segura de que em Mato Grosso do Sul a gente vai respeitar as condições colocadas e mostrar isso. Foi uma reunião muito produtiva. Percebi na embaixadora um conhecimento profundo e uma vontade de interagir cada vez mais com o nosso estado. Então a gente vai estreitar cada vez mais esses laços com a União Europeia”, disse o governador.
Bélgica
Entre os dias 4 e de março deste ano, uma delegação do Governo do Estado Mato Grosso do Sul esteve em Bruxelas, na Bélgica, para uma série de reuniões com representantes dos países da União Europeia, para discutir os impactos da Implementação da EUDR (Regulamento de Redução do Desmatamento e Degradação Florestal) para o comércio bilateral.
O EUDR é a normativa da União Europeia que proíbe a importação e o comércio, no bloco europeu, de produtos derivados de commodities provenientes de áreas de floresta desmatadas, após 31 de dezembro de 2020.
O secretário Jaime Verruck, da Semadesc (Secretaria de Meio Ambiente, Desenvolvimento, Ciência, Tecnologia e Inovação), e o secretário-executivo de Meio Ambiente da Semadesc, Artur Falcette, participaram do encontro na Bélgica.
“Nós apresentamos, os números do setor florestal em Mato Grosso do Sul de 2010 a 2023, enfatizando que a expansão registrada nesse período, tanto de florestas plantadas, quanto de grãos e cana de açúcar, não provocou o desmatamento de novas áreas, mas se deu sobre aproximadamente 4,2 milhões de hectares de áreas de pastagens que foram convertidas para novos usos”, disse Verruck.
